Monthly Update
We are well into spring now, and we know that watching the natural world blossom and grow can be a really inspiring and energising time as the depths of dark and colder winter days recede. We are also reminded at this time of year how fragile so much or our wildlife and our natural habitats are, as we watch and wait for them to become visible and remind us of their presence.
One of the species we want to see thrive at this time of year on Danes Moss North is the Willow Tit. The Willow Tit is our most endangered resident bird species and you can read more about the Willow Tit and Danes Moss in our blog here.
To watch: Saving Danes Moss, a film by Issy Drake
This fabulous 4 minute film was produced by Issy Drake as part of her degree studies in Wildlife Media. We think it is a beautiful and inspiring exploration of why we and all of you are campaigning to save Danes Moss – and we hope you agree. A massive thank-you to Issy for all her work on this.
Please do WATCH, LIKE, COMMENT and SHARE to get our message out there.
Our latest blog: “The moths and butterflies of Danes Moss North – demonstrating the biodiversity of a threatened site” Danes Moss recently featured in the Cheshire and Wirral Argus magazine, this is the magazine of the Cheshire and Wirral branch of Butterfly Conservation. If you are a member you may already have seen it. Butterfly Conservation have kindly let us share the text in this blog that we have put up on the website for those of you who are not members. This is an important demonstration of the work that is happening to understand the biodiversity on the site. Have a read to see how special our lowland raised peat bog is for Moths and Butterflies Butterfly Conservation #biodiversity
Thank-you: everyone who came to the volunteers meeting
It was great to have the opportunity to speak to those who came along to our volunteers meeting at the beginning of the month and hear about how they heard about the campaign and how they might like to get involved. There are lots of ways people can get involved and if you weren’t able to make it please feel free to email us at info@savedanesmoss.com and arrange a chat.
Did you see? Coverage of our work in the local press
We’re pleased this month with a number of articles in local press including the Macclesfield Express and the Macclesfield Nub with a focus on the work to engage local children and young people. You can read the Nub article here. There is also a blog about the importance of Danes Moss as an educational resource here.
