Should I book?
No. Just show up. It’s completely free.

How long is this event?
Around 2 – 3 hours but feel free to leave early.

Who is running it?
The SAVE DANES MOSS group, have a browse around this website to find out more about the campaign.

What’s the plan?
A walk over Danes Moss including the threatened site, ‘Danes Moss North’ and the nature reserve ‘Danes Moss SSSI’. We will talk about the 15,000 year history of Danes Moss and the threats it faces today, peatlands, climate change, nature etc. And maybe a pub visit at the end depending on the will of the group!

Do I need to bring anything?
Bring a full water bottle, waterproof clothing in case the weather turns on us and wear good walking shoes or wellies. Fancy trainers will be destroyed… by Danes Moss not us.

I am disabled. How accessible will this event be?
If you can walk over uneven and boggy terrain you should be fine. Wheelchairs or other mobility aids are not suitable on this part of Danes Moss… yet. Our Vision for the site includes accessible boardwalks but we need to win the campaign to make this happen! We are also planning more events for young adults that will be more accessible. Please email if you want to discuss accessibility: savedanesmoss@protonmail.com

Why an event for young people?
Most of our events are attended by people aged 50+ many of whom are either retired or have more free time than most young people. The SAVE DANES MOSS campaign wants to include as many people from as many different backgrounds as possible. This is not an attempt to exclude older adults. It is our attempt to include younger adults in the campaign.

Can I bring my dog?

No, please don’t bring a dog. Not all parts of Danes Moss are suitable for dogs. We will be walking near habitats of ground nesting birds and other endangered species which dogs are known to disrupt.
