On Saturday 22nd of October the SAVE DANES MOSS campaign was again delighted to be given a space at the Pearls of Cheshire market in Victoria Park, Macclesfield from 11:00am til 16:00pm.
On this occasion we were joined by the Macclesfield RSPB Wildlife Explorers group. The enthusiastic volunteers tirelessly engaged with a flow of ultra-keen youngsters and families, successfully achieving a number of nature themed activities.

Pearls of Cheshire is a great example of community organising that serves marginalised groups in society – in particular those from minority ethnic and migrant backgrounds. Such groups have traditionally been under-represented and excluded from environmental campaigns and access to nature in this country. The SAVE DANES MOSS campaign recognises this so we were very pleased to be given an opportunity to spread the word about the importance of Danes Moss at this event. We want people from all backgrounds to be able to experience the magic of Danes Moss and to feel welcome within our campaign.

We had great conversations with visitors and other stall holders to the background of live music throughout the day. We raised £65 through donations on the day. Our biodegradable glitter tattoos were popular as ever!

In particular, we encouraged our supporters to take part in the public consultation on the future of Danes Moss. This is based on the work of our SAVE DANES MOSS member – Diana Moss – who has produced a landscape vision of a Nature Recovery Zone for the proposed development site and beyond. Please add your views to the consultation which we are running in partnership with the Cheshire Wildlife Trust either on www.actionnetwork.org/forms/a-vision-for-danes-moss or ask to fill out a paper response at any of our events (see below)
We were pleased to meet our supporter, David Rutley MP at the event and to update him on the progress of the campaign.

Our campaign continues to gather momentum and we are optimistic that – with the help of our supporters – we can stop all urban development on Danes Moss. Please consider donating to our campaign fund at – www.gofundme.com/f/save-danes-moss
